Epomaker EA75

The Epomaker EA75 offers a compelling value for users seeking a compact, versatile mechanical keyboard with wireless capabilities. It strikes a strong balance between aesthetics, performance, and user comfort. While it may not match the premium feel of all-metal builds like the Leobog Hi75, its lightweight plastic chassis, smooth switches, and flexible connectivity options make it a practical choice for both gamers and professionals. If you’re after a feature-rich mechanical keyboard that doesn’t break the bank and excels in day-to-day versatility, the EA75 is well worth considering.

THE GOOD
  • Compact 75% layout with multifunction scroll wheel
  • Excellent typing feel with pre-lubed linear switches
  • Gasket mount and multiple dampening layers
  • Triple-mode connectivity (USB-C, Bluetooth, 2.4GHz)
  • Hot-swappable sockets for 3/5-pin switches
THE BAD
  • Scroll wheel function setup isn’t user-friendly
  • Plastic build (though lightweight) lacks the premium feel of aluminum boards
  • Software isn’t unified across the brand’s lineup

The Epomaker EA75 stands out as a well-rounded 75% wireless board that delivers excellent performance, smart design choices, and a user experience that balances both gaming and productivity. With a gasket-mounted structure, multi-mode connectivity, and hot-swappable switches, the EA75 packs a surprising punch for its price point.

Unboxing & First Impressions

Right out of the box, the EA75 sets a solid first impression. Inside the package, we found:

  • The keyboard itself
  • A USB-C to USB-A cable
  • Extra LEOBOG Reaper switches
  • A keycap and switch puller
  • Dust cover

The keyboard has a compact footprint with 81 keys and a multifunction scroll wheel. It features a plastic chassis, making it lighter than full aluminum models like the Leobog Hi75, but still sturdy enough to feel premium. The dual-tone color scheme and translucent RGB add a visual flair without being overbearing. The overall design contributes to a modern, minimalist look.

Build Quality & Design

Despite being plastic, the EA75 doesn’t feel cheap. The body is well-constructed, and the inclusion of five layers of sound dampening material (including a silicone pad, PET film, and poron layers) is impressive at this price. These internal enhancements help reduce vibrations and elevate the typing acoustics.

The keyboard also features a gasket mount design, adding flexibility and cushioning for a softer, quieter typing experience. The rotary knob on the top right corner is functional and clicky, although it feels slightly less tactile compared to other metal scroll wheels. By default, it adjusts lighting effects and brightness but can be remapped via software for volume control or other functions.

Typing Experience

Our unit came equipped with LEOBOG Reaper linear switches, which are factory-lubed and feel smooth right out of the box. Compared to the Greywood switches we’ve used previously, the Reapers offer a slightly more responsive and snappy feedback, albeit with a touch more resistance. The sound profile is noticeably clackier than the Leobog Hi75, which has a heavier, thockier acoustic due to its metal build and deeper key travel.

In day-to-day use, the EA75 offers a satisfying typing experience. The bounce-back is quick, and the stabilizers are well-lubed with no noticeable rattle. While the Reaper switches are linear, the overall feel is balanced — making it suitable for both gaming and extended typing sessions.

Connectivity & Performance

The triple-mode connectivity is one of EA75’s strongest features. Users can connect via:

  • USB-C (wired)
  • Bluetooth 5.0 (up to 3 devices)
  • 2.4GHz wireless (via included dongle)

Switching between devices is quick thanks to the side-mounted mode switch, and latency remains impressively low, especially in wired and 2.4GHz modes. During our testing, polling rates hit up to 1000Hz, which is excellent for competitive gaming scenarios.

RGB Lighting & Software

The RGB implementation is tasteful and effective. Each key is backlit with customizable effects, and the keyboard also features underglow strips on both sides. The shine-through side-printed keycaps look particularly striking when lit up.

Customization is available via Epomaker’s proprietary software. While functional, it’s worth noting that Epomaker does not use a unified platform across its lineup — each keyboard requires a specific version of the software. You can remap keys, set macros, and customize lighting, but adjusting the scroll wheel function may require external tools like Microsoft PowerToys.

Battery Life

The EA75 is powered by a 4000mAh rechargeable battery. With the backlighting on, we got about 1.5 days of use per charge. With RGB off, it easily lasted several days. However, since the side-printed keycaps rely on RGB to be legible, most users will likely keep lighting enabled, which slightly limits battery life.

Verdict

The Epomaker EA75 offers a compelling value for users seeking a compact, versatile mechanical keyboard with wireless capabilities. It strikes a strong balance between aesthetics, performance, and user comfort. While it may not match the premium feel of all-metal builds like the Leobog Hi75, its lightweight plastic chassis, smooth switches, and flexible connectivity options make it a practical choice for both gamers and professionals.

If you’re after a feature-rich mechanical keyboard that doesn’t break the bank and excels in day-to-day versatility, the EA75 is well worth considering.
