The design is minimalistic, accentuated by subtle RGB lighting on the keyboard, giving it a premium look. While the plastic construction may feel somewhat hollow and there’s noticeable screen flex, these compromises likely contribute to its lightweight and compact design.

The HP Omen 16 offers a variety of ports for connectivity. On the left side, you’ll find 2x USB Type-C ports and a headphone jack.
On the right, there’s a single USB Type-A port.
Additional ports at the back include the power connector, ethernet port, HDMI port, and a USB Type-A port with 5Gbps signaling rate (with charging capability). However, it lacks a microSD port.
Display
The HP Omen 16 features a 16-inch FullHD non-touch display with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. This IPS screen features an anti-glare finish and slim bezels, supporting refresh rates up to 165 Hz with a 7ms response time.
While offering a brightness of 300 nits for comfortable indoor viewing, it may struggle in direct sunlight. The display delivers good colors without stutters or ghosting, although viewing angles are somewhat limited.
A 720p webcam with a privacy shutter is positioned at the top for video conferencing. Additionally, there’s an option to upgrade to a QHD 2560 x 1440 panel with 240Hz refresh rate and 3ms response time.

Its 4-zone RGB backlit keyboard offers three brightness levels and includes dedicated shortcut buttons despite lacking a dedicated numpad.
Typing is comfortable with noticeable feedback, and it supports 26-Key Rollover Anti-Ghosting. The touchpad accurately recognizes gestures and tracks movements well, with no issues regarding palm rejection or dragging and dropping. However, the buttons could offer better tactility as they feel somewhat mushy.

However, the performance of the same 4060 GPU can vary on different laptops based on their thermal design.

Our review unit has a 512GB PCIe NVMe TLC SSD, although configurations can vary. The SSD offers excellent performance with read speeds of up to 7,122MB per second and write of up to 4,973 MB per second.

It can run most modern games easily above 60fps on very high settings with zero stuttering or lagging in native 1080p.
Temperature & Noise
The keyboard remains cool during idle periods and only becomes mildly warm under heavy load, never reaching uncomfortable temperatures. Under load, the fans are audible but remain quiet, easily drowned out by surrounding noise.
Upgradeability

Battery & Audio
