Packaging
The control arm comes in an elegant Navodesk branded cardboard box. All the different parts are well protected and the packing includes all the necessary tools to assemble the monitor arm to your desk and monitor.
The parts include several metal brackets for two different mounting options, VESA brackets, cable management clips, cable management brackets, screws, washers, and two Allen key-screwdrivers
Design & Installation
In terms of design, the control arm looks very polished. Most of the external parts are finished with a glossy grey finish. Our review unit is the Midnight Grey variant.
The Navodesk Control Monitor Arm is easy to install with included VESA plate, c-clamp, and grommet installation options. A detailed manual is also included to help with the installation.
Starting with the base, there are two USB 3.0 ports here for quick access. Our only complaint here is the color of the cables, it would have been nice if they were in black to blend in with the clamp base and most PC setups.
For mounting, we’ve used the desk clamping bracket. The alternative mechanism is called the grommet and it needs a hole in the table to mount through. Once the base is clamped to the desk, attaching and tightening the arms are simple and straightforward using the included Allen keys. The monitor arms are very strong and the aluminum and steel frame allows it to stay in position at any angle.
The monitor arm has an integrated cable management system to keep those cords and cables neatly organized and hidden from view for a tidier workspace. There is a plastic clip-on cover near the monitor to start routing the cables through which then passes through two plastic enclosures to the base. They are large enough to fit DisplayPort or HDMI and power cables
After attaching the VESA mount to the monitor and screwing them in, you can then slide it into the clamp on the monitor arm, which is further secured by twisting a plastic tab.
For the optimal viewing height, you can use the included Allen key to adjust for a heavier or lighter monitor which adjusts the gas spring tension for the different monitor weights.
Once fully installed, you can easily tilt, swivel, and rotate the monitor, with one hand, ranging from 90 degrees of swivel, 40 degrees of tilt and 180 degrees of screen rotation along with height and depth adjustments thanks to the gas spring technology.
The installation is straightforward and the included manual provides detailed instructions for easy assembly.
Verdict
The Navodesk Control Monitor Arm offers really good build quality and a premium design. The glossy Midnight Grey finish is clean and elegant, while the overall construction is sturdy. The swivel, tilt and rotation motions are very smooth and gives you a lot more freedom with adjusting your display thanks to the gas spring tech.
The Navodesk Control Monitor is a great choice to keep your desk clutter free for better productivity. The included USB 3.0 hub at the base of the stand is useful and offers two ports. The installation process is also pretty straightforward. This is an ideal monitor arm for the modern office or home setup and comes with a two-year warranty.
