Oaxis are back with the latest edition of their myFirst Camera for kids. The updated version features a 16-megapixel selfie camera, LED flash and a new 16MP main camera. The camera also allows shooting videos and supports up to 32GB micro-SD.

Design

Th myFirst Camera 3 has a sturdy chassis and is available in pink or blue. The body is built using a mix of plastic and silicone. It is lightweight and portable at just 82g. There is no water protection but it does come with a shockproof case made of high tensile strength polymers which resist drops, knocks, and bumps. The camera has a total of seven buttons which may be a too many for children.

Quality & Performance

Although the myFirst Camera 3 features 16MP cameras, the quality is similar to budget smartphones. Photos and video are slightly noisy and there isn’t any sort of stabilization. But considering this is made for kids, it isn’t much of a problem as there are quite a few preloaded effects and frames that should keep them interested.

In terms of battery life, the camera packs a 1000mAh battery and should last several hours to a full day based on usage.

Verdict

While the camera works as a good educational gadget for kids and keeps them entertained, it can be a bit expensive at almost $100. With that said, this is a great little camera and the shockproof case resist drops, knocks, and bumps.
