Everything announced at the HUAWEI Mate40 Series Launch Event

At Huawei’s Mate40 launch event, Huawei announced the launch of the Mate40 series, the Porsche Designed Mate40 RS, two new wearables, and two new gadgets. Huawei Consumer Business Group CEO Richard Yu started off by showing what positive effects Huawei has made as well as the massive growth they have achieved since the beginning. Let’s look at all the products and what they offer.

Huawei Mate40 Series

The Mate40 series consists of the Mate40, Mate40 Pro and Mate40 Pro+. In common, all models have a new “Space-Ring” camera array design, a new virtual key to control volume (while still keeping the physical button), dual stereo speakers with 150% stronger bass, and finally the Kirin 9000 chipset.

The Kirin 9000 chipset, which is claimed to be the most powerful yet. Adopts a 5nm process and features the world’s first 5nm 5G SoC (System On a Chip). It contains 15.3 billion transistors, which is 30% more transistors than the A14. Inside is a 8-Core CPU which is 10% faster than the Snapdragon 865+, a 24-Core Mali-G78 GPU that’s 52% faster than the Snapdragon 865+ and a NPU (Neural Processing Unit) with a 148008 AI Benchmark and is 2.4x faster than the Snapdragon 865+.

The Kirin 9000 also boasts better power efficiency with 25% better CPU efficiency, 150% better NPU efficiency, and 50% better GPU efficiency compared to other chipsets like the Snapdragon 865+. And like I mentioned before, the Kirin 9000 features the 3rd generation of 5G modem technology with 5x Field UL speed and 2x Field DL speed compared to the X55+Snapdragon 865+. The Kirin 9000’s ISP (Image Signal Processor) has a 50% higher throughput and 40% better video noise reduction ability compared to the Kirin 990 5G. The Kirin 9000 also has a slightly lower spec brother called the Kirin 9000E.

Huawei had previously ensured 18 months of smooth experience before the slow decline in performance that every smartphone goes through, but now Huawei has upgraded that period to 36 months or 3 years. Increasingly improving system aging.
