Google Fitbit Air is a screenless fitness tracker priced at $99.99. Pre-orders opened on 7 May 2026 and the device ships from 26 May. A Stephen Curry Special Edition is available at $129.99. UAE availability has not been confirmed at the time of writing.
The Fitbit Air is Google’s most direct challenge to WHOOP, the subscription-based screenless fitness band that has built a following among athletes and health-focused consumers. At $99.99 upfront with no mandatory subscription, Google is entering the screenless tracker category at a meaningfully different price structure. The Fitbit Air is the smallest and most affordable wearable in Google’s current lineup, and it launches alongside a significant rebrand of the Fitbit app to Google Health.

Design and hardware
The Fitbit Air uses a pill-shaped pebble design with no display. The tracker itself weighs 5.2 grams, rising to 12 grams with the band attached. It measures 34.9mm long, 17mm wide, and 8.3mm thick. The housing is made from recycled polycarbonate and PBT plastics. Standard bands use a textile material with a stainless steel buckle and are available in multiple colours. The device is water-resistant to 50 metres.
The sensor array includes an optical heart rate monitor for 24/7 continuous monitoring, red and infrared sensors for SpO2 blood oxygen monitoring, a skin temperature sensor, a 3-axis accelerometer and gyroscope, and a vibration motor for alarms. There is no built-in GPS.
Because there is no screen, all health data is viewed through the companion Google Health app, which is compatible with both Android and iOS.
Battery and charging
Battery life is rated at seven days. The Fitbit Air charges through a new pill-shaped magnetic charger that uses USB-C on the other end, ending the proprietary cable situation that has frustrated Fitbit users for years. A full charge from zero takes 90 minutes. Five minutes of charging provides enough power for a full day of use — a practically useful detail for anyone who charges briefly while getting ready in the morning.

Health tracking and Google Health Coach
The Fitbit Air tracks heart rate continuously, step count, estimated calorie burn, blood oxygen levels, skin temperature, and sleep stages automatically. Sleep tracking requires no activation — wearing the device to bed is sufficient, and data appears in the app the following morning. The tracker stores seven days of minute-by-minute movement data and one day of workout data before syncing to the app over Bluetooth.
The software side of the launch is as significant as the hardware. Google is rebranding the Fitbit app to Google Health, with a redesigned interface rolling out alongside the Fitbit Air. The centrepiece of the new app is Google Health Coach, an AI-powered health and fitness advisor built on Gemini. The Coach draws on the user’s sleep data, activity trends, heart rate history, and other tracked metrics to provide contextual responses rather than generic advice. Users can ask it questions about sleep, recovery, and fitness at any time. In some regions, medical records can also be connected to the platform for a broader health picture.
The Fitbit Air includes a three-month Google Health Premium trial. After the trial period, Google Health Premium costs $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year — a 25 percent increase over the previous Fitbit Premium price of $79.99, reflecting the addition of Gemini AI features. Subscribers to Google AI Pro or Ultra receive access at no additional charge.
Google is also shutting down Google Fit by the end of 2026. Current Google Fit users will need to migrate to the Google Health ecosystem.
How it compares
The Fitbit Air’s closest direct competitor is the WHOOP 5.0, which bundles hardware cost into an ongoing subscription. The Fitbit Air’s upfront price with an optional subscription is a structurally different proposition for buyers who prefer not to commit to a recurring hardware fee. On battery life, the Fitbit Air’s seven days compares favourably to WHOOP 5.0’s approximately five days.
The Garmin Vivosmart 5, which retails around $149.99, offers a screen and GPS but a shorter battery life. The Polar Loop 2, which launched in 2025 as a WHOOP challenger, offers a comparable screenless experience. The Fitbit Air enters this field at the most competitive price of any major brand offering.
UAE availability
Google has not announced official UAE pricing or a confirmed UAE release date at the time of writing. UAE availability is expected following the global launch on 26 May 2026. Google’s existing Fitbit lineup is available in the UAE through Amazon UAE, Noon, Sharaf DG, Virgin Megastore, and Jumbo Electronics. This article will be updated when UAE availability is confirmed.
