Hexcal Studio Review
Our Hexcal Studio review examines its premium build, cable management, eight AC outlets, USB connectivity, wireless charging and integrated task lighting.

The Epomaker TH series has built a reputation for offering feature-rich mechanical keyboards at accessible prices. With the TH99, Epomaker introduces a 96% (1800-style) layout that combines nearly all the functionality of a full-sized keyboard—complete with function row, arrow keys, and number pad—into a more compact frame. At under $90, the TH99 positions itself as a versatile keyboard for both work and play, with a focus on sound quality, build, and connectivity.
In this review, we’ll walk through its design, features, typing experience, and performance to see if it’s worth adding to your desk setup.
Inside the box, Epomaker provides everything you need to get started. Along with the keyboard itself, you’ll find:
The packaging is neat and practical, and the inclusion of a dust cover is a thoughtful touch that helps keep the keyboard looking fresh on the desk.
The Epomaker TH99 carries a 96% layout with 102 keys, giving users the benefits of a number pad without the extra width of a full-sized keyboard. It weighs about 1.14kg, giving it a solid presence without being overly heavy.

The chassis is built primarily from ABS plastic but reinforced with design touches like an aluminum accent plate on the back for aesthetics. Two-level adjustable kickstands and rubber feet provide flexibility and stability, while the slightly sloped frame makes long typing sessions comfortable.
The double-shot PBT keycaps are durable, textured, and resistant to shine. The review unit we received came in a white-and-blue color scheme, which gives it a clean, modern look. Legends are not shine-through, which could be a drawback for those who work or game in low-light environments, but the south-facing RGB still produces vibrant underglow that reflects nicely off the case.

The highlight of the TH99 is its Epomaker Creamy Jade switches. These are factory pre-lubed, linear 5-pin switches with a 45g actuation force and 2.0mm pre-travel.
The keyboard features a hot-swappable PCB, allowing users to swap switches easily with both 3-pin and 5-pin options. Stabilizers come pre-lubed from the factory and perform surprisingly well—especially on the spacebar, which sounds tight and balanced with no rattle.
Typing on the TH99 feels premium for its price range. Thanks to its gasket-mounted structure and five layers of sound-dampening materials (Poron sandwich pad, IXPE switch pad, PET sound-enhancement pad, Poron foam, and silicone padding), the keyboard delivers a muted, well-balanced sound profile that many would describe as “creamy.”
The only minor inconsistency we noticed was that some larger stabilizer keys, like Enter and Backspace, felt slightly firmer than the spacebar. Still, the overall typing experience is enjoyable and refined.
One of the strongest aspects of the TH99 is its tri-mode connectivity:
The 4000mAh battery provides excellent endurance, with Epomaker claiming up to 800 hours on wireless mode without RGB enabled. In real-world usage, we comfortably got several days of use before needing a recharge. Switching between connection modes is simple and intuitive, making this an excellent option for those who use multiple devices.

The south-facing per-key RGB lighting is bright and customizable, though not shine-through due to the solid PBT keycaps. It creates a pleasant underglow that enhances the overall desk aesthetic.
Customization can be done via Epomaker’s driver software or VIA support, offering options to:
This makes the TH99 flexible for both productivity and gaming setups.
In practice, the TH99 performs reliably across different tasks. For gaming, its low-latency wireless connection and stable switches make it responsive enough for casual and competitive play. For typing and productivity, the full key layout paired with a compact footprint is highly practical, especially for those who want the functionality of a number pad without committing to a large full-size board.
The sound profile is also a standout—deep, muted, and refined—making it enjoyable to type on even during long work sessions.
The Epomaker TH99 strikes an impressive balance between functionality, build quality, and typing experience. It doesn’t try to compete with ultra-premium keyboards that offer screens, knobs, or metal cases, but instead focuses on delivering a refined and enjoyable experience at a reasonable price.
For users who want a compact full-size alternative with tri-mode connectivity, creamy sound, and hot-swap flexibility, the Epomaker TH99 is one of the best options in its price range. It’s a keyboard that feels good to use daily and sounds even better.
