Gadgets Middle East Editor's Choice

The Carluex Pro+ 2.0 is the latest multimedia AI box designed to bring Android functionality directly to your car’s infotainment system. Running Android 13, it allows users to install apps like YouTube, Netflix, Spotify, and even lightweight games through the Google Play Store. Beyond that, it supports HDMI output for dual-screen use—either to a rear-seat monitor or a TV—making it a flexible entertainment device for both in-car and home use.

Design & Build

The Carluex Pro+ 2.0 features a square form factor similar to most AI boxes, with a matte finish and subtle branding on top. It includes a USB-C port for power, a micro HDMI port for video output, and slots for both a TF card and a SIM card. Underneath, passive cooling vents help with heat management during extended use. Build quality feels solid, and the included braided cables and adapters add a touch of premium practicality.

In the Box

The retail package includes the AI box, user manuals, a braided USB-A to USB-C cable, and a USB-A to USB-C adapter. Depending on the purchase bundle, users may also receive a range of accessories, such as an HDMI to mini HDMI cable, a 32GB microSD card with a reader, a magnetic phone holder, and a Bluetooth air mouse remote with a built-in keyboard—useful when the device is connected to a TV or external display.

Interface & Features

Once connected to a CarPlay-compatible vehicle, the Carluex Pro+ 2.0 boots into a custom Android interface optimized for automotive use. The launcher layout is straightforward, with a side panel for navigation and quick-access apps on the main screen. The control center allows users to toggle Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and other settings easily.

The device supports split-screen multitasking, letting users run apps like Maps and Spotify simultaneously in customizable ratios. It also integrates Google Assistant and Gemini voice control, offering hands-free navigation, music control, and general queries.

Performance

Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6125 (Adreno 610 GPU) with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, the Carluex Pro+ 2.0 performs adequately for multimedia playback and general app usage. In testing, streaming apps such as YouTube and Netflix ran smoothly, with minor frame skips and acceptable audio-visual sync. Google Maps and Spotify also performed well, though navigation guidance didn’t pass through to the instrument cluster or HUD.

4K video playback worked reliably at 30fps, but the device struggled with 4K60 content. Benchmark results confirmed that the 6125 chipset lags behind newer competitors, which affects both app responsiveness and gaming. Lighter titles like Crossy Road ran fine, but demanding games like Asphalt Legends showed reduced visual quality and noticeable lag.

CarPlay & Android Auto

The Carluex Pro+ 2.0 supports both CarPlay and Android Auto wirelessly. In practice, both modes worked, but not without limitations. CarPlay navigation was slightly sluggish, and neither CarPlay nor Android Auto could display route guidance on the vehicle’s instrument display. Audio playback was generally good, but call quality suffered from high gain and minor delay.

Connectivity & Updates

The inclusion of a SIM card slot allows for standalone connectivity without relying on a smartphone hotspot. The device also supports over-the-air (OTA) updates and APK sideloading for non-Play Store apps, which adds flexibility for users who like to customize their experience.

Value & Verdict

At around $274, the Carluex Pro+ 2.0 sits in the premium end of the AI box market. While its build quality, Android 13 OS, and HDMI output make it versatile, the older Snapdragon 6125 chipset limits overall performance. Competing AI boxes in the same price range offer faster processors and better system integration.

That said, if your main use is streaming content or using Android apps in the car, the Carluex Pro+ 2.0 delivers stable multimedia playback and smooth everyday performance. However, for those prioritizing faster response times or more refined CarPlay/Android Auto support, there are more capable alternatives available at similar or lower prices.
