If you ask us, Bose and Shokz and what else, we’ll tell you that you missed Suunto’s newest Sonic and Wing. The Sonic and the Wing are bone-conduction headphones that send sound vibrations through your cheekbones instead of traveling a long way through the air into your ear canal.

With Suunto’s Sonic and Wing joining the club, Shokz has lost its monopoly over bone conduction. This feature helps you do your morning jog listening to your favourite tracks and informing you about what’s happening around you. So that you don’t have to pause your music or mind your pace while you run.

Discovering the Suunto Sonic

Priced at $149, Sonic is an entry-level device. It comes in a wraparound design and is comfy to wear. The pair is stable. Unlike other headphones, the part that comes in contact with the skin, just over the ear, is thin. It causes no discomfort while wearing a headband or a spectacle. You can run or walk carefree using the Suunto Sonic headphones.

Exploring the Suunto Wing

The Wing is priced at $199. It is a bit more sophisticated than the Sonic. It is funky with LED lighting along the sides. This helps you when you are going out at night. It comes with a portable power bank. It has head motion controls within. To flex, it has a slightly better IP67 water and dust resistance compared to the Sonic’s IP55 rating. But that doesn’t mean you can use them for a long swim.

With the bone-conduction feature, what makes these headphones lovable is that they can be used by the hearing impaired too. Wonderful, isn’t it?

But the reviews have some bad news for those who rely on heavy bass playlists. It says that the bass doesn’t sound bass enough in Sonic and Wing which means you will feel a little off the track while listening to Post Malone’s Sunflower!

As it is told, there are head motion controls in Wing. To enable them, you need to download the Suunto App and connect to the Wing. Only then the head gesture controls are activated. The optional LED lights also require the app for you to set it to ‘constant light,’ ‘flashing,’ or ‘SOS.’

These help you answer or decline the calls. You can even skip the tracks. All you have to do is nod or shake your head while you run. This can be a boon or a bane, making you either a baboon or an astute.

On the other hand, you can pick these headphones without a second thought because they will never give you too much vibration when you crank up the volume on a hectic road. However, they rate better than their rivals with various sound profiles, comprising an outside mode that boosts bass. The power bank arrives with an extra 20 hours of life.
