TOZO NC9 Pro Review: Feature-Rich Wireless Earbuds with a Touchscreen Case

The TOZO NC9 Pro is a pair of true wireless earbuds that takes a different approach to the budget and mid-range market. Along with adaptive active noise cancellation and high-resolution wireless audio, TOZO has added a 1.47-inch touchscreen to the charging case, Bluetooth 6.0, multipoint connectivity and several personalization features through its companion app.

The earbuds use 10mm SDLC dynamic drivers and support LDAC, while the six-microphone system is designed to improve call quality. The TOZO app adds advanced EQ controls, EarTune hearing optimization, Smart Fit Detection and AI-powered features such as chat and translation.

We have been using the NC9 Pro for music, YouTube, calls, gaming, working and exercise to see how these features translate into everyday use.

TOZO NC9 Pro Specifications

Design and Build

The NC9 Pro uses a familiar in-ear design with a short stem and silicone ear tips. The earbuds are compact and lightweight, and we found them comfortable during longer listening sessions.

Getting the right fit is important with any in-ear ANC earbuds. The correct ear tip creates a better seal, which can improve both passive isolation and noise cancellation. TOZO includes multiple ear-tip sizes in the box, so it is worth trying them before settling on one.

The earbuds stayed securely in place during our everyday use and light gym sessions. We did not find ourselves constantly adjusting them, although we would still position these more towards everyday use and lower-impact exercise rather than dedicated high-impact sports earbuds.

The charging case is slightly thicker than some conventional TWS cases, but the reason becomes obvious when we look at the front.

1.47-inch Touchscreen Charging Case

The standout feature of the NC9 Pro is its 1.47-inch interactive touchscreen built into the charging case. Rather than using the case simply to store and charge the earbuds, TOZO has effectively turned it into another control interface. We can check the battery status, access settings and adjust various functions directly from the case.

The screen wakes when the case is opened, and the interface can be navigated using swipes and taps. We initially viewed the touchscreen as more of a novelty, but after using it for a while, we found it genuinely useful. Checking battery levels or changing settings without reaching for a phone is convenient. The touchscreen is not something we would consider essential for wireless earbuds, but it does give the NC9 Pro a more distinctive user experience.

The case charges through USB-C and includes a pairing button on the rear.

Comfort and Fit

Comfort has been good throughout our testing. We used the earbuds while working at a desk, watching YouTube, listening to music and exercising. With the correct ear tips, the NC9 Pro remained comfortable during longer sessions.

TOZO’s Smart Fit Detection is another useful addition. The feature checks the wearing position of the earbuds and helps determine whether they are positioned correctly. This is more useful than it might initially sound. Poorly fitted earbuds can affect bass response, passive isolation and ANC performance, so having a quick way to check the fit is helpful.

The NC9 Pro also carries an IPX8 water-resistance rating, providing additional protection during workouts and everyday exposure to sweat or water. As usual, the charging case itself should be kept away from water.

Sound Quality

The NC9 Pro uses a 10mm SDLC dynamic driver. SDLC refers to TOZO’s super diamond-like carbon-coated diaphragm, which is designed to provide a lighter and stiffer diaphragm for improved audio performance.

In everyday listening, we found the sound enjoyable and well suited to a wide range of content. Bass has a noticeable presence without completely overpowering vocals. Voices remain clear, while higher frequencies provide a reasonable amount of detail without sounding excessively sharp.

We spent time listening to music, podcasts and YouTube videos, and the NC9 Pro handled all three well. The tuning works particularly well for general listening because spoken content does not become excessively muddy when the bass is prominent.

The earbuds also support LDAC and Hi-Res Audio Wireless. With a compatible device and suitable high-quality audio source, LDAC allows more audio data to be transmitted over Bluetooth. The actual benefit will depend on the source, device and listener, but it is a useful feature to have at this price point.

EarTune and EQ Customization

One of the advantages of using the NC9 Pro with the TOZO app is the amount of sound customization available.

EarTune Hearing Optimization analyzes your listening profile and adjusts the audio based on your hearing sensitivity. The idea is to create a more personalized sound profile instead of relying on exactly the same tuning for every listener.

There is also an advanced EQ system for users who want more direct control. We found the default tuning enjoyable, but the ability to adjust the sound gives the NC9 Pro more flexibility. Users who prefer stronger bass, more prominent vocals or a brighter presentation can experiment with the EQ rather than being limited to the factory tuning.

Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation

Noise cancellation is one of the key features of the NC9 Pro. The earbuds use Adaptive Hybrid ANC with noise reduction rated at up to 45dB. Rather than maintaining one fixed level of noise cancellation, the adaptive system is designed to respond to changes in the surrounding environment.

During our testing at home and while at work, ANC helped reduce background noise and made it easier to concentrate on music and video content. The feature also makes sense when moving between different environments. A relatively quiet room does not require the same level of noise reduction as a busy street or gym, and adaptive ANC is designed to adjust accordingly.

Of course, ANC performance also depends heavily on the physical seal created by the ear tips. When we needed to hear our surroundings, Transparency Mode allowed more external sound through without removing the earbuds. This was useful when we wanted to remain aware of conversations or what was happening around us.

The NC9 Pro also provides additional listening modes through its software, giving users more control over how the earbuds handle their surroundings.

Gaming and Low Latency

The NC9 Pro includes a dedicated Low Latency Mode for gaming and video. We tested the earbuds while gaming and found the audio remained closely synchronized with the action on screen. Sound cues such as footsteps and other effects were responsive, making the earbuds suitable for casual gaming.

They are not designed to replace a dedicated gaming headset for competitive players, but the low-latency mode is useful when gaming on a phone or other compatible device. It is equally useful for video playback. During our YouTube testing, we did not experience distracting audio delays.

Bluetooth 6.0 and Multipoint

The NC9 Pro uses Bluetooth 6.0 and supports multipoint connectivity. This allows the earbuds to maintain connections with two devices and switch between them. For example, we could use them with a laptop while working and keep a phone connected for calls.

This is one of the features that we consider more useful in everyday use than some of the additional software functions. Anyone who regularly moves between a computer and smartphone can benefit from not having to repeatedly disconnect and pair the earbuds. Connectivity during our testing was straightforward, and the earbuds maintained a stable connection during normal use.

Calls and Microphone Quality

TOZO has equipped the NC9 Pro with six microphones and an Environmental Noise Cancellation system designed to reduce background noise during calls. We used the earbuds for normal calls and tested the microphone directly. Voice quality was clear enough for everyday conversations, while the noise reduction helped reduce some of the surrounding ambient sound.

As expected from compact wireless earbuds, the microphones do not provide the same level of isolation or vocal quality as a dedicated headset or microphone. However, for calls, meetings and everyday conversations, the performance was suitable. The six-microphone setup also makes the NC9 Pro more practical for people who use their earbuds for both listening and communication.

TOZO App and AI Features

The TOZO app adds considerably more functionality to the NC9 Pro.

The AI features are an interesting addition. We would not choose earbuds purely because they include AI Chat or translation, but having these functions available through the companion app adds another layer of functionality. Battery Life and Charging

TOZO rates the NC9 Pro for up to 14 hours of playback from the earbuds with ANC disabled, with the charging case increasing total playback to up to 60 hours. Charging is handled via USB-C.

With ANC enabled, the rated figures drop to up to 10 hours from the earbuds and 40 hours with the charging case.

As with any wireless earbuds, actual battery life depends on factors such as volume, ANC usage, Bluetooth codec and other features.

Fast charging is also supported. TOZO states that 10 minutes of charging provides up to three hours of playback. We found this useful when the earbuds needed a quick charge before heading out. The touchscreen case makes battery management even easier because we can see the remaining charge without opening the phone app.

Everyday Use

After using the NC9 Pro in several situations, the earbuds proved to be most comfortable for everyday listening. At home, they worked well for music, YouTube and podcasts. While working, adaptive ANC helped reduce background distractions. During walks, Transparency Mode provided an easy way to hear more of the surrounding environment when required.

We also used them during light gym sessions and indoor cycling. The secure fit and IPX8 rating make them suitable for this type of activity, although we would still consider them better suited to everyday and lower-impact exercise than dedicated high-impact sports earbuds.

Gaming was another area where the Low Latency Mode was useful, while multipoint connectivity made moving between a phone and computer considerably more convenient.

This variety is where the NC9 Pro makes the most sense. It is not focused on one particular use case.

Verdict

The TOZO NC9 Pro is a feature-rich pair of wireless earbuds that offers considerably more than basic music playback. The adaptive ANC, LDAC support, Bluetooth 6.0 and multipoint connectivity are useful upgrades, while the 10mm SDLC drivers provide an enjoyable sound profile with plenty of bass and clear vocals.

The 1.47-inch touchscreen charging case is the feature that immediately separates the NC9 Pro from more conventional earbuds. It is not essential, but after using it, we found being able to check battery information and access controls directly from the case genuinely convenient.

The TOZO app adds another layer of functionality through EarTune, Smart Fit Detection, EQ customization and AI features. Not every user will need all of these options, but they give the NC9 Pro a considerable amount of flexibility.

After using the earbuds at home, while working, watching videos, walking, gaming and during lighter exercise, we found them comfortable and practical for everyday use.

The NC9 Pro is therefore best viewed as an all-round wireless earbud package rather than a product designed around one particular feature. It combines ANC, high-resolution audio, customization, connectivity and an unusual touchscreen case in a compact set of earbuds.
