HONOR Robot Phone Launches With World’s First Built-In Camera Gimbal

Rather than a fixed camera bump, the Robot Phone uses HONOR’s Titanium Agile Gimbal, an ultra-compact 4-DoF mechanical system built from more than 100 precision components across over 100 patents. HONOR says the system is 65% smaller than mainstream gimbals while being twice as structurally strong, with a 2.6g titanium gimbal motor capable of 360-degree-per-second control speeds.

On the imaging side, the Robot Phone pairs a 200MP main camera (1/1.28-inch sensor, f/1.6) with a 200MP periscope telephoto camera offering 2.7x optical zoom, plus a 50MP ultra-wide. Through the HONOR-ARRI Cinematic Imaging Partnership, the main camera supports 10-bit ARRI LogC3 recording, ARRI Wide Gamut 3 color, and real-time ARRI Looks previews, with footage designed to carry directly into tools like DaVinci Resolve.

The gimbal also powers a new set of AI-driven features under MagicOS’s YOYO Robot Mode, including AI Subject Tracking that automatically pans and tilts to keep a user in frame while vlogging, live-streaming, or on a video call, along with gesture controls that let users deploy the camera arm without touching the phone. Under the hood, the Robot Phone runs on a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, a 6.31-inch LTPO OLED display reaching 6,800 nits peak brightness, and a 7,060mAh battery with 120W wired and 50W wireless charging.

Pricing and availability

The HONOR Robot Phone launched in China in two configurations: 12GB+512GB for RMB 9,999, and 16GB+1TB for RMB 12,999. Pre-orders opened in China on August 12, with sales beginning August 18. HONOR has not yet confirmed international or UAE availability.

HONOR CEO James Li framed the ARRI partnership around imaging craft rather than specs, saying great imaging ultimately comes down to “aesthetics.” ARRI Chief Product Officer David Bermbach echoed that the two companies aim “to expand what creators can achieve” with the tools they already carry.

On the processing side, HONOR says the video pipeline performs noise reduction earlier in the RAW domain, processes data in 14-bit 4:4:4, and outputs 10-bit LogC3 4:2:2 footage, preserving more image information for editing after the fact. AI noise reduction is rated to improve video signal-to-noise ratio by 8dB, while AI dynamic range optimization supports up to 14 stops of dynamic range. Beyond imaging, the Robot Phone’s YOYO Auto Execution feature lets its system-level AI agent carry out multi-step tasks across supported apps and settings, and HONOR is opening an Agent Skills interface so third-party developers can build their own experiences around the phone’s gimbal, perception, and embodied-interaction capabilities.

The commercial launch caps a lengthy public rollout for the device. HONOR first showed the Robot Phone at Mobile World Congress in March 2026, before bringing it to the film industry directly with stabilized tracking-shot demonstrations at the Cannes Film Festival’s China Night and the 28th Shanghai International Film Festival. HONOR says future imaging technology developed through the ARRI partnership will carry over into the upcoming HONOR Magic9 series.

The camera arm itself supports several distinct movement modes beyond basic tracking, including Tilt Lock, First Person View, FPV Vertical, and AI SpinShot, giving creators different framing options depending on the shot. HONOR also specifies a torque density of 120 N·m/L for the gimbal’s Super Steel Flip Motor, and the display uses 4320Hz PWM dimming alongside HONOR’s NanoCrystal Shield glass for scratch resistance.
